Biographies Deborah Doss - Navigating through the educational system can be intimidating for parents especially when parents are alerted that their children are not succeeding in the classroom. I experienced such frustration when my daughter began not succeeding in the classroom. No one could explain why my daughter was not succeeding, and not knowing why was stressful for me. I began working at home with my daughter when I realized my daughter was guessing a lot, and then I realized she was straining to see information I was presenting to her. I immediately had my daughter's eyes checked, and sure enough she needed glasses. My experience cost my daughter a half year of not reading at school. The stress was not over for me as a parent because I knew my next job would be to catch my daughter up with her reading skills. Now, after my daughter's experience, I realized I could help other parents by adding tutoring services to the American River Montessori Program.
Nessrine Abdo - Hello! I welcome you to our page of success!! Throughout my life, I have been through a lot. Growing up, I always knew that I was destined to be a teacher; education and knowledge have always surrounded me. I am very artistic and I love being organized. I was able to develop my own style of art by painting, drawing, and even doodling on plain paper. Coming from a welcoming family, I was able to get that guided support I needed to continue my education to be successful in life. I graduated at Sacramento State University with a bachelors degree in Liberal Studies in 2006. I continued taking courses to better my knowledge in education. My goal in life is to finish my credential, but at the same tme work with dedicated students, tutoring and helping them succeeed. I think getting that individual support and help is very significant in every child's education. Seeing each and every child smile makes me smile. I welcome you to come share your experiences and use what you know to continue your knowledge successfully. You know, life has its ups and downs. We all can succeed in life and you can, too! Let us remember what Plato (the Greek philosopher) once said, "Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.
Hardeep Sahota - I live to inspire others. That was my dream when I first began my teaching journey, and it continues to be my dream. As an elementary teacher, I have seen kids' enthusiasm for learning reach great heights. I have always thought that if you can make learning fun, any child will succeed. With this thinking, I have been a part of tremendous classroom success. In the 2008-2009 school year, my entire third-grade class scored either proficient or advanced on both math and language arts. It was a great achievment. I graduated from Sacramento State University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and communications. I then earned my multiple subject teaching credential from the university in 2007. Teaching is a challenging field and it's something I take seriously. Tutoring after school has become a way for me to give even more back and help children get back on track of their academics. I love every second of this opportunity I have been given to teach!
